Here is another bird that showed up in my yard. I am not too swift when it comes to identifying our feathered friends. He looks like a giant Parakeet or some sort of small parrot. If any one knows what he is, let us know. I asked him and he kept requesting crackers.
He look like a big parakeet to me, but I'm not sure! I used to see them wild when I lived in Sarasota. I wish I had those on my feeder here, but it gets too cold.
his/her? colors seem muted to me, but I know nothing about such birds. Snow storm is starting with 10-15 inches predicted -- B glad you are in south! Shakespeare: do you the Canadian TV series called Slings and Arrows about a theater company, most certainly based on Canada's Stratford? It is probably the best thing ever done on TV (excepting maybe Sopranos for those who love/loath New Jersey).
Monk Parakeet, I'm pretty sure. An "alien invader". His beady eye seems to be demanding that you put out something more substantial than birdseed to eat! Three Rivers Daily Photo
You order - we roast! We don't ship from an inventory. Your coffee is not roasted and packaged until you order. You are assured of top-quality coffee every time, shipped fresh from our roaster!
I"m going with a parakeet something or other.

PS Give him a damn cracker.
I think you identified him so now it is an IFO.
ReplyDeletePretty bird though. MB
Gee, for a minute I thought it was somebody's lost parakeet. I took a photo in India of a bird very much like this, but darned if I know what he was.
ReplyDeleteCould it be a lorikeet? Highly coloured - I remember them in Australia. Maybe, as you suggest, it's a parakeet.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for blog birthday wishes, b Squared.
I'm not ready to fly south like this guy yet. Infact I'm looking forward to more of the white stuff.
ReplyDeleteI am useless in this case...
ReplyDeleteA bird like that...I hope you gave him the Ritz (crackers).
ReplyDeleteAsk Abraham...he is an expert bird watcher, photographer and identifier.
ReplyDeleteWell, maybe if you gave him a cracker he'd give you some information!
ReplyDeleteHe's not one of the many green parrots that terrorize the neighborhoods; probably a pet that got loose.
It's nice that you have facilities to feed him though.
Re texting: It's not that you're getting old, my friend, it's that the world is getting more stupid!
a Southern beersucker?

Crackers, eh? Are you sure he was requesting crackers or was he insinuating that you are cr... NAH!
ReplyDeleteI am with Bibi, I thought someone's parakeet got loose .. maybe it did .. did you ask it 'pretty boy wanna cracka?'
ReplyDeletehe doesn't really look real, though. are you sure he's real? heheheee
ReplyDeleteLol, teach him to say 'peanut'.
ReplyDeleteI 'm not sure about his name, I'm not good with this things, but he is gorgeous,it's true!

Now those we don't get but it looks parakeet-like to me, too.
ReplyDeleteA very interesting bird--I wonder if it's an escaped Pet or a naturalized or native bird. How big is it?
ReplyDeleteCool capture!
I see we have a lot of bird experts here, and I'm one of them. As near as I can get is "some kind of parrot thing."
ReplyDeleteCan a parakeet live in the wild down there? He's pretty, whatever he is!
ReplyDeleteAnother gorgeous bird! Lucky you! :-)
