THAT'S THE PLAINS, GEORGIA TRUTH

I was driving down the street the other day and something made me slam on the brakes. No, it wasn't a squirrel in the road. Rather, it was the squirrels in this person's yard. They were everywhere. This shot manages to catch only a few. The person that lives here must be a really big 'nut.'

AND THAT'S NO FLUKE

This is the second whale wind vane I have seen in this area. I am beginning to think we have a lot of transplants from Nantucket. It is pretty impressive and has a beautiful patina. If you squint just a little bit, the leviathan appears to be swimming in the ocean blue.

COOL RUNNINGS

On first glance, just another sports car. But look a little deeper and you will see a Tesla Roadster. An electric car capable of reaching speeds of 125 MPH and going 200 miles before recharging. A carbon fiber body surounds a single-speed gearbox;it also uses no oil. The wave of the future? I don't think so. This little number had a sticker price of $145,000. That, my friends, will buy a lot of gas. On the other hand, this is probably the best photo I ever took with my Iphone.

SLIP DOWN THE ALLEY WAY, FLY DOWN THE HIGHWAY...

You're walking down the street, minding your own business, when you see something out of the corner of your eye. You back up to investigate and there it is. You weren't seeing things. There is a box that sells newspapers, in an alley no less. You breathe in, exhale and move on. The mural was interesting, also.

I CAN SEE FOR MILES AND MILES AND...

This is a continuation of our Wind (weather) Vane series. This is a relative of the guy in yesterday's post. I believe he was looking for his friend. Given how high up he is, he may just be able to see him. If he learns anything from his friend, it is to keep his mouth closed.

WEDNESDAY DOORWAY:HOOK, LINE, AND DENTAL FLOSS

I've been meaning to show this door for some time. It is one of my favorite entrances in the city. I pass through it twice a year. It is the front door to my dentist's office. Every time I see the fish, I think whatever happens to me will not be as bad as what happened to him. There were a couple of times I wasn't so sure, but, I lived!

A LITTLE BIRDIE DIDN'T TELL ME

I came across this lovely flower in my backyard the other day. I'd like to describe how I chose the seeds and cross pollinated them to yield this beautiful result. Alas, I can not tell a lie. Some bird must have eaten a seed, and later, defecated. Not a great story but a nice flower. If anybody knows what it is, please tell me. I do know the bird was pretty cool looking.

THEY CALL IT 'GOLDEN GATE PINK'

This is the 3rd Avenue Bridge in downtown Fort Lauderdale. That's right, it's pink. Some ask why? Perhaps, it honors our Pink Flamingoes. Maybe the pastel color is very "Miami Vice." I happen to think the bridge paint store had a special on pink. Check out the colors of some other bridges at San Francisco Bay Daily Photo.

HOME, HOME ON THE RANGE

Another of those interesting murals. A campfire, a waterfall, hills, and a howling wolf. These are all typical of Fort Lauderdale. This is actually a part of the mural. It wraps around the building but the other part is a little difficult to photograph. It is an insurance agent's office and there are too many cars in front. Maybe he is originally from Wyoming.

POST CHRYSALIS SYNDROME

This is for my friend Giacomo at Livorno Daily Photo. Quite simply, the coolest bench, ever! Nothing more need be said.

WEDNESDAY DOORWAY: PASSAGE TO WHIMSEY

I would love to paint my granddaughter's bedroom door just like this. Pretty colors, wonderful thoughts, what's not to like? This is actually a retail establishment on the main outdoor shopping district in the city. What child wouldn't love to se what's on the other side?

NO RELATION TO THE GRIM REAPER

The name says it all, GERMAN BREAD HAUS. These folks have been making some of the best bread for years in this same location. The building is pretty interesting as well. Looks are somewhat deceiving, however. The retail section of the store is very small;about 6 feet by 3 feet. The rest of the haus is ovens and storage. But the smells! There have been times I have stopped in just for the olfactory satisfaction it dispenses.
I assume the young couple on the right are Hansel and Gretal. The little girl in the tower is Rapunzel. You will have to click to see what I mean. I would assume the Brothers Grimm are regulars.

BIRD OF PARADISE

This is one of the murals on the bridge from yesterday's post. I felt it deserved a day of it's own. It looks kind of different from your everyday bird.

IT'S FOR SALE. NO, REALLY!

This is probably the smallest bridge you will see today on San Francisco Bay Daily Photo. As such, I had to get out very early and paint it so as not to be overshadowed by bigger and more "engineered" structures. It really was a lot of work, took me nearly three cups of Louis's wonderful coffee to complete the project. It is the Perry Mickel Bridge, also known as the 15th Avenue Bridge. It separates Fort Lauderdale from Wilton Manors. It crosses a fork of the Middle River. An occasional Manatee can be seen passing by when looking down. That may take another cup of coffee while you wait. There aren't as many as there used to be.

WEDNESDAY DOORWAY: NORTH OCEAN BLVD.

This is an interesting door that is, obviously, a one of a kind. By enlarging the photo, you will understand why I won't be giving you a shot from the 'other side.' Sorry for the framing. This home sits on a very busy street and the Yugo's brakes never really bring the car to a complete stop. So I have little time to frame and shoot;usually, it is one or the other.

ALICE...

Most busstops are dirty glass cages;unattractive and usually in need of some T.L.C. I thought this one was interesting. Looks more like a park bench than anything else. I could see someone sitting here reading a good book and not caring if the bus shows up or not.

THE EASTER MANATEE

Another holiday requires another visit to our favorite Manatee. I especially like his nose which you will have to click to enlarge. Hope you have a joyous Easter wherever you are and whatever you do. Peace!

THEME DAY-RED

Red, red, red, red, red, etc. Yes, it's Theme Day. A big thanks to Virginia for reminding me. I'm not real good at remembering those things. Hope this will suffice.
