FROM ITALY, WITH LOVE

This is a 1936 Lancia Astura Convertible. A very rare car, indeed. There were only 2484 Asturas produced between 1931 through 1936. They were considered technically advanced in their day. They were a favorite choice to appear in movies and a 'must have' of many celebrities. The Pope even had one. I don't know how many are still in existence, but my guess is not too many. It is truly lovely to behold in person.

  4. Very good looking car. A friend had a Lancia in the 70's all I can recall is the rust!

  6. Looks like it is just waiting to take a spin on the Super Bowl field. Too beautiful to languish in a museum!

  10. 1936 was an incredibly wonderful year and I say that from personal experience. No wonder they produced such a beautiful car. I don't think I've seen one of these in person, though.

I'll bet Jay Leno has one in his garage(s)!

  13. I am sure the pope had one, what didn't he have in 1936, compassion? a poor choice in friends, Mussolini and Hitler. The car itself is amazing. I had a friend who had a Lancia. it kicked!

  18. That is a REAL car, unlike those other things sitting around it! (though a Packard Caribbean isn't bad, I'm holding out for the Packard dual cowl phaeton circa '33 or so...)
