A LETTER FROM AUNT LEAR

Another addition to our ever expanding Mailbox Series. These two fellows sit waiting to great the postman. OK, so technically one is standing. It is kind of a post moose in training. One day, he'll have a mailbox all his own.

ELFIN MAGIC IN EVERY BITE

On first glance, this appears to be a new addition to our MAILBOX SERIES. Well, it is that and something more! You can't see from this photo, but, there was a little bit of smoke coming from the tiny chimney. I went around back to investigate and, low and behold. I found the Keebler Elf Bakery. Our friends across the pond are probable not familiar with the Keebler Elves and it may be hard to explain. You may click here to get a better understanding. If not, a nice addition to our MAILBOX SERIES it is.

STAMPED OUT

I haven't seen any new additions for our MailBox series, till now. If there was ever a mailbox that is self-descriptive, it's this one. I'm surprised there aren't more like it. Then again, with the cutbacks to the Postal Service, there may be a lot more in the future. F.Y.I. Blogger seems to have it in for me today, first it published my post 7 hours late and now it won't allow comments to be posted to the site. It really is a conspiracy.

TWO 'FER

Here is a double contribution to our ongoing series of unusual mailboxes. It's not often that I have seen two unusual mailboxes next to each other. In fact, it has never happened. Here is a jet ski trailer and a golf cart both in the vertical position. They are read both strange and definitely 'one of a kinds.' As such, they are perfect for this site. 'Nuff said!

ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST

Just one last look at our favorite Manatee mailbox. We have featured this guy decked out in all manner of costumes appropriate for each holiday. Have fun tonight but be careful. There are enough crazies out there without you adding to their numbers. Happy New Year to each and every one of you. Best wishes for the best of all possible new years.

NO HOLIDAY DELIVERY?

I came upon this mailbox by accident. While shooting tomorrow's post, I turned around to find this pretty strange mailbox. Very patriotic and certainly one of a kind. I wonder if the people who live here get preferential treatment? Come back tomorrow to see what he is staring at.

AIRMAIL

A somewhat stoic figure, this Pelican seemed attentive to my every move. I guess the mailman would simply drop a fish in front of him. While he bends down to pick it up, shove the days posts into the box and take off. A pretty good plan but a lot of fish. On another note, A salute to all our Veterans for their service to our country. Thank you for a job well done.

FISHING FOR AN ANSWER

Here is another unusual mailbox. How they ever got the Tarpon to stand like that and balance a mailbox on it's nose, I'll never know.

NOT YOUR USUAL FISH TAIL

Another interesting addition to the "Unusual Mailbox" series. Not a lot of commentary is needed for this one.

THE EASTER MANATEE

Lest anyone thought I would forget to show our favorite mailbox, well here he (she) is. Decked out in seasonal splendor. A click to the picture will divulge some interesting things these people added to the scene. Hopefully, everyone had a wonderful holiday with family and friends.

MAILBOX - FIN

This will be our last mailbox photo for awhile. They have been well received and will reappear from time to time. The people at this house apparently are dog lovers. The little guy running around their yard was very similar in appearance to the mailbox. They must really like the him or maybe it's a warning that he had better shape up.

MAILBOX - PARTIE CINQ

\
Here we have someone who loves cars. Three old tire rims form the base to hold the mailbox. On top of the box itself, sits two spark-plugs and a distributor cap. I don't believe he gets his mail (posts) any faster but it can't hurt to try. You may have to click the image to see it all. The Sun was not cooperating that day.

MAILBOX - PARTIE QUATRE

Here is our Manatee mailbox of a few weeks ago. He (or she) is suitably regaled in all their St. Patrick Day finery. The setting is very Spring like. Hope your day is as nice as ours. So tip a pint to St. Pat and catch other MY WORLD TUESDAY participants here.

MAILBOX - PARTIE TROIS

This is the third installment of our "unusual mailbox" series. In fact most of this week will be devoted to that theme. I hope you enjoy this bit of whimsey. This is, I believe, a Large Mouth Bass. Grouper? At the very least, it is a fish with a large mouth.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY

This is another of our unusual mailboxes. There are quite a few of these Manatee style mailboxes around. People dress them in seasonal or holiday costumes which adds a bit of whimsey to the day.

MAILBOX

Here is another example individuality. The owner of this home decided to do something a little different. His mailbox is a small barn that adds a bit of whimsy to the front of his property. The thing I find most unusual is the pedestal it is affixed to. Have any strange mailboxes in your neighborhood? Will be gone for a couple of days. Enjoy your week.
