NOT TILL THE COWS COME HOME

This particular mural caught my attention. Not because it was so interesting. No, I thought it was rather primitive. It looked more like a child did it rather than a "mural" artist that we seem to have an abundance of in this area. It is a very large work, and not the usual subject matter that has been seen on this blog. On another note, I spoke to a car dealer today who is willing to take the Yugo in on trade. He has a lovely Sterling that he says should meet my needs. I'm thinking...

  1. «Louis» salutes you for posting this fine piece of publicity about his bovine brethren!

Re the Sterling: «Louis» suggests you might be better off with it than the Yugo. The Sterling was an Acura Legend, well-disguised.

(Seriously - the Sterlings were built in Honda's plant in the U.K. When Honda opened the plant, they amazed the Brit workers that they were able to get body panels to fit properly, etc. Honda initially operated that plant in partnership with Leyland. Because Honda didn't have control of the production of the cars Leyland made in the plant, the Leyland cars weren't as well-made as the Honda products built on the adjacent line in the same plant. Nevertheless, the quality of the Leyland cars improved just by Honda's presence in the plant. With the demise of Leyland, Honda now has complete control of the plant.)

  2. I actually like this mural. In the upscale harbor town in Washington state where my mother lives, the mayor gave a mural project to the town's high school art students, who happily painted a quite good, although not picture-perfect, mural of the harbor, with Mount Rainier in the background. The mayor deemed it 'not good enough' and hired a professional artist....really encouraging our youth, I'd say....

  3. I think Luis is right about the Sterling. You keep finding very nice murals, so different from our graceless and ugly things.

  4. This looks like it was painted by a homesick Vermonter. Good luck with the decision. Whichever way 'yugo,' all will be well in the end.

  6. Primitive it is, but there is a certain quaint beauty about it. The mural, not the Yugo. Good luck with your trade.

Re angels with wings. I don't know if that statue is supposed to represent the "Queen of Peace," or it's just another "angel." It just stands there guarding the parking lot.

  7. This mural does have that naif feel to it. But I sort of like it.

I wouldn't trade in your Yugo for anything less than a Porsche though. And it has sort of become your signature transportation. It would be sad to see it go.

  8. Well...........that's about all I can say about the car deal.

The mural is ok. Let's leave it. MB

  11. Sterling? WHAT???

BTW, I was thinking if you lived in the south that when you got "older" things would go north! WEll not so. They just go "souther"~ HA

  14. This child-like artwork looks more inviting than a lot of "sophisticated" stuff. I like it! :)
    God bless you!

  15. There's "Naive Art" and wikipedia describes it as: "is a classification of art that is often characterized by a childlike simplicity in its subject matter and technique. While many naïve artists appear, from their works, to have little or no formal art training, this is often not true."

I certainly wouldn't be able to paint a cow like this on a wall.

  16. Do I detect a hint of irritation about the mural? Hmmm, can't blame ya!

  17. Noooooooo! Not the Yugo! Anything but the Yugo!

  18. I kind of like the mural. Although somewhat simplistic, it is pretty, like children's art. I like the way the cows are done.

Something other than a Yugo? Oh my!

  19. The Yugo is a classic, and what is life without something perennial.

  20. Thanks for sharing, I like the mood of that painting. :)

  21. Ummm (or Moooo), I think it was supposed to look like a coloring book. Check out the cow on the left and the scribbled color on the tractor. I know nothing about Sterlings. I'll wait for the pix.

  22. This is cute! I can't believe you are even considering getting rid of the Yugo.
