NO HOLDING BACK

I look at this and I see TOM SAWYER. What better thing for a kid to do on a hot summer day. That was a time, long, long ago. Makes me wonder what old Mark (Sam) might say if he were alive today. The world has changed a lot, but some things have been lost in all that change. I was thinking about that the other day while I was fishing down on the pond. It was hot that day.

  1. He seems to be bronzing nicely in the sun.

  2. Well, Mark would recognize this at least as still being a favourite pastime. Cute shot.

  3. I think Sam would have plenty to say about the world today and we would all benefit from hearing it. He'd make us laugh but he'd also make us pay attention.

  6. It's true the world has changed a lot since the days of of Mark Twain. But lately I have noticed a ton of men, women and children enjoying the old-fashioned pastime: fishing. :)

  11. The joys of fishing.
Last summer when I took my Gboys to the beach the youngest scrounged around and found a stick and string and asked a fisherman by the dock if he had a weight and the guy gave him a weight and a lure and Bradley went out on the dock and caught a small fish. Everybody around was delighted for him. Small town ingenuity. MB

  20. I'm sure Mark Twain would have loved seeing his little adventurous boy so quiet making part of this lovely scene - a break for the writer! :-)
