NO HOLDING BACK
I look at this and I see TOM SAWYER. What better thing for a kid to do on a hot summer day. That was a time, long, long ago. Makes me wonder what old Mark (Sam) might say if he were alive today. The world has changed a lot, but some things have been lost in all that change. I was thinking about that the other day while I was fishing down on the pond. It was hot that day.

He seems to be bronzing nicely in the sun.
ReplyDeleteWell, Mark would recognize this at least as still being a favourite pastime. Cute shot.
ReplyDeleteI think Sam would have plenty to say about the world today and we would all benefit from hearing it. He'd make us laugh but he'd also make us pay attention.
ReplyDeleteA hot day fishing down at the old pond beats a cool day at work!
ReplyDeleteGet that kid some sunblock! I hope he practices catch and release.
ReplyDeleteIt's true the world has changed a lot since the days of of Mark Twain. But lately I have noticed a ton of men, women and children enjoying the old-fashioned pastime: fishing. :)
ReplyDeleteVery cute! I do still see quite a few kids around here that like to go fishing!
ReplyDeleteCute shot! A nice way to remember one of our best authors.
ReplyDeletebeautifully composed and shot!
ReplyDeleteHeheheee! Nice & cute, B! I'm sure Mark Twain has rolled over in his grave many times
ReplyDeleteMe too .. tho I have never fished I think it would be relaxing ...
ReplyDeleteThe joys of fishing.
ReplyDeleteLast summer when I took my Gboys to the beach the youngest scrounged around and found a stick and string and asked a fisherman by the dock if he had a weight and the guy gave him a weight and a lure and Bradley went out on the dock and caught a small fish. Everybody around was delighted for him. Small town ingenuity. MB
Perfect "Sawyer-esque" shot!
ReplyDeleteThanks for comment in my blog.

ReplyDeleteHappy weekend.
Things were so much more simple when we were kids. Good thing you're still nine ;D
ReplyDeleteI love this scene more than I can say. . .
ReplyDeleteI'm sure Mark Twain would have loved seeing his little adventurous boy so quiet making part of this lovely scene - a break for the writer! :-)
ReplyDeleteHahaha. And I thought of Huckleberry Finn! Fancy that. I know I've said this before, but you really live in a very interesting town!
