POWWOW III

These gentlemen were part of a ceremonial dance. The drums were so intense, more than any Rock concert. You could feel the the sound on your body. Unlike anything I have ever seen.

    We have the Lumbee group of Native Americans in our part of North Carolina who have fought long and hard for recognition.

  13. This powwow series is SO striking, B! The workmanship and detail on the regalia is beautiful. And I could listen to drums forever. They're such a soul-ripping instrument. Lucky you for being there to enjoy the sights and sounds.

  16. A most interesting and colorful series BS - photos and commentary. Their costumes are certainly beautiful but I would think it might be hard to dance wearing such outfits!
