MOVE THE BOAT OAR ELSE

While driving across town the other day, I came across this unusual craft parked in front of a house. It is too big to be a canoe, so it must have some other use. It is made of wood and must be heavy and very hard to move. There was no-one around to query regarding it's purpose. Perhaps, it is destined for one of the races my friend Vogon Poet so artfully covers on his wonderful web site, Livorno Daily Photo. Another mystery left unsolved.

ATHENA-GODDESS OF THE SEA

May I present, ATHENA. She is a Superyacht and she is awesome. At 295 feet(90 meters), she is the largest private sailing yacht in the world. This is as close to her as I could get. By clicking ATHENA, you will be directed to a site with pictures and loads of information on her. She was made in Holland, is a 3-masted schooner and is breath taking to behold.

VENETIAN TAXI

Our city's moniker is, "The Venice of America." When you think of Venice, the first thing that comes to mind is the gondola. So to keep up with our older brethren, it is only fitting that we have a gondola of our very own. Perhaps, one day,Venice may be known as "The Fort Lauderdale of Italy." Doubtful!

CAN IT BE THE CARRIE B

This is the Carrie B. She is available for sightseeing cruises, tours, private charter cruises and boat tours. There has been many a wedding reception on board. She has been here since 1991 and runs three daily narrated sightseeing cruises. It is a good way to see the city from the water. The paddlewheel is just for show.

SPORT FISHING

This is the time of year when  Sailfish are prevalent in our offshore waters. Many of the "well healed" enjoy this questionable sport. Most anglers practice "Catch & Release" with these magnificent creatures.  If you have ever seen one come out of the water chasing his dinner, you won't soon forget it. You too can partake but your going to need one of these. You can buy  or charter one. Our Marinas and homes are loaded with them. The Sailfishing is best when the winds are blowing and the seas are rough. If you want to join in, bring your Dramamine and your credit card. I, personally, wish the fishermen would just leave them alone.

TAXI

This is one way to get around the city. You can go from point to point or just take a ride to see the sights. It is a great way to "sea" the city!
