VENETIAN TAXI

Our city's moniker is, "The Venice of America." When you think of Venice, the first thing that comes to mind is the gondola. So to keep up with our older brethren, it is only fitting that we have a gondola of our very own. Perhaps, one day,Venice may be known as "The Fort Lauderdale of Italy." Doubtful!

  1. lol, "Fort Lauderdale of Italy" you never know. Maybe if you send your blog to someone in charge of those things. :-) Better yet you should just proclaim it. From now on I'm calling Venice the Fort Lauderdale of Italy! :-)

  2. You have to shot this gondola at work! I hope they have the compulsory mustachioed boatman with striped T-shirt and straw hat...

  7. Ft. Lauderdale of Italy? Now, that's funny. Like the gondola, though. I don't think I've seen one of those previously in Ft. L.

  10. There is a gondola at the Charles River Esplanade in summer time. I guess everybody likes to pretend they are in Venice and it is good for tourism.

  11. I didn't know that! I did see gondolas and gondoliers in Central Park, though. But I wouldn't mind trying the ones in Fort Lauderdale.

Thanks for visiting Norwich Daily Photo and leaving your comment. Come back tomorrow for more of the Keukenhof series!

  13. I like this photo and enjoyed reading all the comments. Interesting that people the whole world over imitate other parts of the world. It is like my comment on our Hyde Park in Sydney and comparing it with The Tuileries: I would love to have a shallow pond where children can push sail boats and parents can stretch out in the autumn sun. But that would be just too copycat. I will just have to experience the original more frequently.
