FRED AND ETHEL
While wandering around downtown the other day, I came across these two strange looking objects. Being a little slow on the uptake, I figured out the big fellow was a trash can. Not a bad looking trash can and aerodynamic at that. His little buddy had me buffaloed. I thought it might be one of those gizmos you see at a movie theater that has a strap mechanism that can be pulled out and attached to another similar one to create a queue. Upon further investigation I was able to sniff out the answer. It's an ashtray! My, how the world has changed! After all that investigation I need a couple of days of R and R. Back in a few days.

I like the way they are placed on those white lines. A (maybe unwilling) geometric composition of two finely desisgned objects.
ReplyDeleteStrange forms and textures indeed, I'd seen those kind of trash can but that ashtray form, never. Great post!
ReplyDeleteLol, looks more like Laural and Hardy to me.
ReplyDeleteTake it easy. :-)
I think this should be Ginger and Fred. Maybe the two will start dancing together!
ReplyDeleteA match (!) made in heaven. Such a fine looking couple.
ReplyDeleteI love the title of your post!
ReplyDeleteYou made me smile...actually, I laughed. Ash tray, eh? I think I'll take a nap too.
ReplyDeleteLOL! Have a good rest!
ReplyDeleteWould never guess that Ethel is an ashtray!
ReplyDeleteFunny post!
Cezar & Léia
Interesting shot. But obviously, you are not now, nor have you been recently, a smoker!
ReplyDeleteOh, man--I was thinking "hitching post." Got to get out of Montana once in awhile.
ReplyDeleteTake all the time you need, we'll take your pulse when you get back, make sure you're up to speed.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I think you should go lay down for awhile. LOl
ReplyDeleteSee ya when you get back. MB
How an ashtray? Where does one flick the ash? Filthy things really ...
ReplyDeleteI like the names you gave them. We have those ashtrays outside our work. As a former smoker, I hate the smell.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was a rubbish bin as well.
ReplyDeleteJackie
We all need a hiatus every now and then. I hope all is well. I have a feeling Fred and Ethel will still be here when you get back.
ReplyDeletewhile looking at the picture first that is what also i thought those two things are... not until i'm done reading you entry to find out what really are those two things... this gets me bewildered for a moment too.. maybe i guess i should need R&R too...
