FROM ITALY, WITH LOVE
This is a 1936 Lancia Astura Convertible. A very rare car, indeed. There were only 2484 Asturas produced between 1931 through 1936. They were considered technically advanced in their day. They were a favorite choice to appear in movies and a 'must have' of many celebrities. The Pope even had one. I don't know how many are still in existence, but my guess is not too many. It is truly lovely to behold in person.

Yes, its quite a car, worthy of some Latin American president. Love this kind of machine and its sounds on the run!
ReplyDeleteA really amazing car, I can't imagine how it feels driving one...
ReplyDeleteYou know...
ReplyDeleteI think you are charming and elegant gentleman!
This car is wonderful!

Very good looking car. A friend had a Lancia in the 70's all I can recall is the rust!
ReplyDeleteThat's a far cry from the Popemobile. Great car.
ReplyDeleteLooks like it is just waiting to take a spin on the Super Bowl field. Too beautiful to languish in a museum!

«Louis» would gladly exchange the Vachemobile for this prize Lancia! (Though what he REALLY wants is a Packard Caribbean...
ReplyDeleteWow, fancy schmancy! Where can I get one? :-)
ReplyDeleteVery nice. Wouldn't it be fun to take a ride in that. Vroooooom!! MB
ReplyDelete1936 was an incredibly wonderful year and I say that from personal experience. No wonder they produced such a beautiful car. I don't think I've seen one of these in person, though.
ReplyDeleteI'll bet Jay Leno has one in his garage(s)!
Yes, I can remember this car from classic films. How nice to see one up close and personal.
ReplyDeleteIt is a beauty!
ReplyDeleteTHE POPE? OMG! I CAN'T imagine the Pope driving around in it - not possible! heheheee
ReplyDeleteNice lil thing though
I am sure the pope had one, what didn't he have in 1936, compassion? a poor choice in friends, Mussolini and Hitler. The car itself is amazing. I had a friend who had a Lancia. it kicked!
ReplyDeleteThat is nice! It looks well taken care of too.
ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous and all the others, although much more modern, also look great!
ReplyDeleteTis gorgeous. That and a picnic hamper, down country lanes.
ReplyDeleteI hope everyone is enlarging the photo! WHAT a CAR!
ReplyDeleteThat's a very cool car.
ReplyDeleteThat is a REAL car, unlike those other things sitting around it! (though a Packard Caribbean isn't bad, I'm holding out for the Packard dual cowl phaeton circa '33 or so...)

Very nice! It looks like there were quite a few classic cars in that room.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful car, very sleek.
ReplyDeleteIt's a beauty! Driven by Popes and movie stars? Hmmm. Something to ponder.
ReplyDeleteThe thing speaks for itself!
ReplyDeleteThis car reminds me of the days of silent movies and Charlie Chaplin.
ReplyDeleteGreat looking car. I can imagine Cary Grant and Grace Kelly in a car like that. Hell, I can imagine myself in a car like that!
ReplyDeleteMy husband would probably wet himself with excitement. Very nice.
