STRANGER IN A STRANGE LAND
This is certainly not your everyday, garden variety piece of yard art. A rather interesting piece. At times it looks Egyptian. At other times, it looks like it could be from many different periods. It is a very large work and must weigh a considerable amount. No one will be walking off with it in the middle of the night;that's for sure.

So THAT'S where «Louis'» former father-in-law disappeared to!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like good quality marble, I wonder about the style of the sculpture. You are right, this is almost surely theft-proof!
ReplyDeleteIt is unusual, and sort of reminds me of something Brancusi would have done.
ReplyDeleteIt looks some action movie scenery!
ReplyDeleteLike Indiana Jones or other like that :)
Cool composition in this picture,I liked a lot!
Léia
That would make a great pawn in a cool chess set.
ReplyDeleteI maxed the photo which showed the detail, and I like it. Because of its simplicity, I think the sculpture would work in any environment.
ReplyDeleteIt does look pretty heavy, but is it just for looks? How odd
ReplyDeleteIt looks fairly new - it hasn't attained that "weathered" look. I quite like the eye which you see when you enlarge the photo.
ReplyDeleteCheers.

If anyone succeeds in stealing that, then more power to them!
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite Heinlein books ... do you Grok it?
ReplyDeleteAn attempt at Easter Island revisited maybe.
ReplyDeleteI like it and I think she is a she. Sort of reminds me of Mestrovic.
ReplyDeleteWhat I most like here is the composition itself and the succulents, especially that Pachypodium (spiny) trunk on the letf.
ReplyDeleteI personally grock cubism there. Had to enlarge it to see the detail when I noticed flowers in the yard. And stuff that is green. I remember green stuff!

Well, I won't be walking off with it. ;-)
ReplyDeleteIt is my opinion, after great consideration and research, that this is Floridian of an unknown age. Or maybe it's Fort Lauderdalian? Who knows?
ReplyDeleteNo need to chain it then :) I agree with Bibi, it reminds me of Brancusi.
ReplyDeleteVery odd. MB
ReplyDeleteA very interesting piece--I wonder what its history is.
ReplyDeleteIt looks kinda like Brancusi, and no, you won't find me trying to pick it up!
ReplyDeleteThere must be a good story behind it! I was thinking Easter Island, too.
ReplyDeleteI looks Cubist cum Easter Island. And never underestimate the will of an art thief...
