WOODY THE WOODPECKER
This is a daily visitor to my backyard. His name (if you haven't guessed) is Woody. He shows up every morning for a peanut that I am eager to give him. He is quite tame and very beautiful. You would have been mistaken assuming all we had here is 'Snowbirds.' Woody also has a wife but she must have been otherwise preoccupied this morning.

I love woodpeckers. Great shot!
ReplyDeleteWOW!
ReplyDeleteMme la Vache loves birds. «Louis» MUST show her this when she returns.
He's a beauty~ wow... Thanks for sharing him with us ~ Maria
ReplyDeleteA beautiful bird, caught in an amazing pose. Give him a peanut for me...
ReplyDeleteOh, gosh! I never realized you had woodpeckers down there! I used to see them in Pa. at my grandmother's. I think there is a similar species here, but none this pretty.
ReplyDeleteHe is a handsome one.
ReplyDeleteWow, he's a beauty and what a poser. Very nice shot. MB
ReplyDeleteWhat a great shot.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on a great photo and having such a nice friend...he actually takes a peanut from you?
ReplyDeleteAmazing. Of course, these little critters will make a lot of noise outside your window chipping away at your most expensive palm tree!
Beautiful woodpecker! How nice he will let you take his photo...and for peanuts! I bet the snowbirds (especially from Ontario) would charge much more.
ReplyDeleteVery cool birds. looks a bit different from the Woody I know.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful photo of your "pet" woodpecker!
ReplyDeleteFantastic capture! And I like the peanut thing! :-)
ReplyDeleteWoody would be welcome around hee too. Such a handsome fella
ReplyDeleteHe certainly is a handsome fella!
ReplyDeleteWoody the zebra with a clown's nose no I mean head. Wonderful bird, love the detail.
ReplyDeleteLet's hope he won't start pecking where you don't want him to. Hard to understand how the brain of such a fellow stays intact, considering his hobby.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beauty! You got him in a perfect pose too!
ReplyDeleteFabulous shot!
ReplyDeleteI am always otherwise preoccupied. even at night.
ReplyDeleteWonderful photo!!!!!! Beautiful!
Sorry I've been absent--my computer got so full I couldn't use it and it kept crashing--I'm working on it now.
Maybe he IS a snowbird. I'm pretty sure he was hanging around here all last summer -- have you seen him driving a golf cart?
ReplyDeleteNice shot, I love bird photos.

Oh, do say hello to him for me & give him a pat, too!
ReplyDeleteWoody is a fast talker and a sharp dresser. I bought a used car from him once.
ReplyDeleteI hope Woody loves your home B2, and doesn't venture north. The ones that drill on my downspouts make me insane!
ReplyDeleteV
superb perspective!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful moment and a wonderful bird, its colors are impressive! And of course its a perfect name.
ReplyDeleteIt's a beautiful shot, this little friend is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWell done!
Hugs
Léia :)
** sorry for this late comment I got an awful "cold"here... but now, feeling much better visiting your blog!
That's a red-belled woodpecker, one of the more common ones in my yard. I love them. BTW the cartoon Woody was a pileated woodpecker.
ReplyDeleteI'll be reading and commenting when I can between now and Feb. 21. I'm getting ready now, and on the 12th will be going to meet my Honey in London and see parts of England outside the city as well. My three active blogs will continue to post. I look forward to visiting your insane world more often again when the adventure is over :)
ReplyDeleteWow, what a great shot!
