... AND I THINK I LIKE IT

In the immortal words of The Pointer Sisters, "I've got a new attitude." That is what this statue reminds me of. It is titled The L'il Blader. The artist was able to capture just the right amount of spunk and attitude in this piece. It resides in a small but beautiful park in the city. It also happens to be the same park my daughter was married in. In fact, the statue reminds me of her. What I found most interesting about this piece is the girl is wearing roller blades not ice skates. Art historians should have no trouble dating this work as circa 1995.

  2. This is a very good statue. I checked it and found that this is a fine work by the local (Ft. Lauderdale) artist Nilda Maria Comas, probably cast in the Del Chiaro foundry in Pietrasanta, Lucca.

  8. Who says Floridians don't have culture? This is super! She's flaunting it and should...I mean how many folks can actually stay up on roller blades?

Nice park, too. I'm trying to place it.

  10. Sweet one and I like your caption. I wouldn't necessarily naturally have associated Florida with ice-skating!

  14. I'm glad to hear you're getting rain. We're getting our share and I love it.
At first I thought this was an ice skater but then you said roller blades. I even looked at the enlargement. I need to pay more attention. It's a great statue for a park.
