... AND I THINK I LIKE IT
In the immortal words of The Pointer Sisters, "I've got a new attitude." That is what this statue reminds me of. It is titled The L'il Blader. The artist was able to capture just the right amount of spunk and attitude in this piece. It resides in a small but beautiful park in the city. It also happens to be the same park my daughter was married in. In fact, the statue reminds me of her. What I found most interesting about this piece is the girl is wearing roller blades not ice skates. Art historians should have no trouble dating this work as circa 1995.

The artist got it alright, and perfectly! This made me smile so much.
ReplyDeleteThis is a very good statue. I checked it and found that this is a fine work by the local (Ft. Lauderdale) artist Nilda Maria Comas, probably cast in the Del Chiaro foundry in Pietrasanta, Lucca.
ReplyDeleteAs I was reading, I was thinking, they have ice skating in Florida? She does look sassy.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sassy pose! I would go to that park all the time just to see this statue. It's so cute!
ReplyDelete"I've got a new attitude" just I loved this statement!

It's the right attitude--I like it. MB
ReplyDeletePerfect title. I thought they were out of place ice skates at first.
ReplyDeleteNice shot.
Who says Floridians don't have culture? This is super! She's flaunting it and should...I mean how many folks can actually stay up on roller blades?
ReplyDeleteNice park, too. I'm trying to place it.
I like this sculpture very much!
ReplyDeleteCute sculpture. I like her attitude as well.
ReplyDeleteSweet one and I like your caption. I wouldn't necessarily naturally have associated Florida with ice-skating!
ReplyDeleteI like the fact that it brings you happy memories of your daughter's childhood!
ReplyDeleteIt is a very nice statue. Quite a little girl pose too.
ReplyDeleteI love lil' statues... She's adorable with that "over the shoulder...did you watch me skate" look :) ~Maria
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear you're getting rain. We're getting our share and I love it.
ReplyDeleteAt first I thought this was an ice skater but then you said roller blades. I even looked at the enlargement. I need to pay more attention. It's a great statue for a park.
lovely indeed!
ReplyDeleteThat's what I call attitude. She is pretty.
