KNIGHT TO SEE YOU AGAIN

I was taking some photos the other day and came upon this tree. I really liked the way the light was reflecting off the trunk. I must have looked suspicious because the owner of the house came out and was ready to defend it at all cost. You can tell he means business just by looking at him. So, I got back in my Yugo and retreated to my own castle. I may be gone for a day or two as both my Commodore 64 and "Trash 80" have been removed from life support. The new 'Black Box' arrives today and it may take me more than a day to get it up to speed. Those new IBM PC's can be pretty tough on the floppy disks.

  1. I like the light on the tree. Are you sure the guy isn't the tin man from the wizzard of Oz?

  2. I wonder what kind of tree is, it looks amazing in that light in the perfect hour!

  3. A very composed owner, he may have some stables on the backyard. Remeber that you need two floppies in these new IBM PC: one for the operative system and one to store your work...

  4. I like the bark on this tree...was the owner's bark worse than his bite? Oh, that's baaad....

    Wonder why the knight? Significance?

I live in a country where there are still lots of Yugos around....

  5. First you pick on the Canadians, then the Yugos. Watch out, I fit into both those categories! (By the way, my dad had two Yugos - like riding in a tank.) Good luck with the transition into the modern age.

  6. The light and texture of that tree...wow! I can see why it stopped you. You are right to beware of tin men. They have no heart. Congratulations and goodluck with the new equipment.

  7. We have one of those trees here, but I dunno the name. You have to be careful taking pictures of them, though, because their owners are scary creatures. I though a commodore had something to do with the Navy? Methinks sometimes you are a poor benighted soul...but I do hope your new black box lives up to all your expectations.

  8. All I gotta say is be careful and protect that floppy disK.

May the force be with you. MB

  9. That is a great shot and well worth putting yourself in harm's way for! Yesterday I was trying to take a picture for my blog and almost got eaten by two big angry dogs. I escaped in the nick of time.

  10. Beautiful light on the tree, the white house & the bricks on the drive. Looks like a recent rain? Everything wet. Love the knight. Is this a Florida thing? Haven't you shown us other rather interesting monuments on private property?

  11. C ould the tree be a crape myrtle? Ours peel and the trunk is beautiful but I've yet to get a shot as gorgeous as this. Good luck with the black box. I will say when my Mac arrived, it took all of about 10 min. to get it up and running.

What is that tree? It looks like a bronze sculpture.

  14. Very unique capture, I also appreciate the effect of light on the trunk... And yeah, that guy standing there doesn't seem the friendly type... :)
    God bless you!

  15. "So, I got back in my Yugo and retreated to my own castle." is one of the funniest things I've ever read.

  17. They have CDs now. I won't even mention what comes after that.

  18. And did it throw a rod as you sped away?

  19. The trunk of this tree looks waxed and polished to shine! wow...
Technology is amazing... I wouldn't have known what to do with all my free time had we had 'copy, paste and delete' back then...

  20. You can tell he means business, hes armed. Who would have picked the upsets this weekend, not me.

  21. Beautiful smooth tree trunk! As to the roman soldier, what a tacky idea! LOL!

  22. The owner does appear to mean business! You were smart to retreat.

Commodore 64, eh? Those were the days! ;-)))

  23. (I remember those!!

    I had a trash 80 and BB a Commodore 64!)

    Ai-yi-yi!)

  24. Looks like the owner had to protect his spit and polished tree.
Did you plug in the Commadores on your 8-track singing 'Three times a lady' on your Yugo retreat?
You are bringing out all the ex-pat Yugo-viches with this post - what were they $4,000?

  25. I'll just sit here while you and Tash make funny. "~)

  26. «Louis» is relieved to read that you had the shelter of your sturdy ironclad Yugo to retreat to! Those cars are famous for being built like tanks, thus their longevity in the U.S. marketplace! BRAVO! «Louis» suggests you replace the Commodore 64 soon with an Apple IIe, but by all means, hang on to that bulletproof Yugo!
