UP IN SMOKE
I'm not really sure what kind of fish this is. In fact, I don't have the slightest idea. I do know they were quite popular in the Late 60's and early 70's. They were often seen after a large catch of "Square Grouper." Some of you may not be familiar with that term. Suffice it to say, Cheech and Chong's favorite fish was the Square Grouper.

Seriously, how does the FLDP staff find this stuff??? The artist might be familiar with Square Grouper.
ReplyDeleteDon't know the fish and am not first-hand familiar with Cheech and Chong either....was out of the US then! Whatever this is, it is intriguing....
ReplyDeleteBarney Google, perhaps...or was that Barney Grouper?
ReplyDeleteAmazing the amount of public art promoted by private citizens.
ReplyDeleteI think it came from a video clip of Pink Floyd! :)

It's got its mouth open! I hope it doesn't think I'm a small fish! (I'm not very small, but it looks hungry!)

ReplyDeleteVery strange. There is a great piscatory disorder up thar in Michigan. You better get home quick, 'cause things are just too finny!
ReplyDeleteEven without direct knowledge, I have understood the concept...
ReplyDeleteLooks more like a bug .. there's something fishy about this ...
ReplyDeleteOh too funny, Mr. B Squared. Dude!!
ReplyDeleteI am sure you had more than just a passing acquaintance with Cheech and Chong. Psychedelic!
My brother watched a lot of Cheech & Chong, but I didn't, therefore, I don't get it - I wouldn't want that thing on my lawn though! LoL!
ReplyDeleteNever heard of it but I'm a new fan of these people putting crazy fish up everywhere.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Daryl, it looks more like a bug but I find it very cool! :-)
ReplyDeleteAre you sure it's a fish? Looks like a bug from another planet.
ReplyDeleteHmmm. This is a fish? I don't think I completely understand the concept of "fish."
ReplyDeleteET, ready to call home.

ReplyDelete«Louis» thought this was the hood ornament on the Yugo...
I thought it was a dragonfly or something. Must be a flying fish!
ReplyDeleteYou are very funny!
ReplyDeleteIt is quite a mysterious creature, isn't it!
ReplyDeleteAre you sure it's a fish? It looks like a creature from outer space, or something conjured up in the minds of Cheech and Chong. :)
ReplyDeleteEvery home should have one!
ReplyDeleteNot square enough to be a grouper, I'd think.
ReplyDeleteA very interesting creation and a great catch!
ReplyDeleteToo much hooch I'd say
ReplyDeleteI hear you can't find any graffiti up there in yankee land. Well good for them. Wonder how they managed to control it up there?
ReplyDeleteLove your fish theme you have going!

ReplyDeleteColorful makes up for a lot of - uh - yes, it's pretty cool.
ReplyDeleteI was missing blogging past week, so now I see the posts all at once. Which reminded me of Terry Gilliam's "Fear and loathing in Las Vegas")))
