BOTTOMS UP

This is the view from the Summer studios of Fort Lauderdale Daily Photo. What you are looking at is a Temperature Inversion. This is a fancy term for the temperature increasing with altitude instead of the other (normal) way. This is fairly common in places like San Francisco, et al. We drove thru it the other day and it is like being in a cloud;you can literally reach out and touch a cloud. No monsters were contained within, I am happy to report. You may learn more about the Temp. Inversion by clicking here.

  3. Amazing landscape, its an interesting phenomena, I saw something like this in a little town call San Jose del Pacifico, on top of Sierra Madre del Sur in Oaxaca state, on the road to Huatulco and you're right the clouds surround you. Thanks for sharing this!

  6. Happens here all the time. We call it ground fog. I live up high and when it coveres the valley it looks like the ocean. MB

  11. Oh so that's what happens when the Golden Gate is shrouded in mist on postcards! Interesting, I had no idea. Your shot is pretty cool, if the trees weren't green I'd almost have thought that this was some kind of glacier!

  12. Yeah, indeed a fancy term. We call it fog ;)
And like you said, it is common in SF. Very impressive when it rolls in, but also what makes it so cold in the summer.

  14. Your "summer studios" take you away from the 90-degree heat wave and lovely humidity. Darn. I'll just have to save it all up for your return.

    Enjoy!!
