ENGINE COMPANY NO. 23

Driving down a road the other day, I happened upon the above vehicle. I don't know that I have ever seen a convertible fire-engine before. It was long ago retired from service. It now has been relegated to standing watch outside a local watering hole;subjected to countless drunk college students jumping onboard to impress their friends. A rather ignoble end to an illustrious career. We get many retirees looking for part time work to supplement their income. Just another statistic but she looks pretty good for her age don't you think?

  1. It is rather odd looking but that's no reason the college kids should disrespect it. I'm sure it saved lives in it's time.

  2. This engine looks great and a little strange, never seen some like this one, part white and part red, but inspire respect!

  3. Ah, we all should look that good when retired! As far as the college kids go, they're not vandalizing it and nothing wrong with having some photos with it, is there? Harmless fun!!

  4. I never seem to be able to post messages on this kind of format. Me or the directions, I wonder. Perhaps voodoo? Anyway...We all should look so good when we retire! Nothing wrong with college kids having photos taken on the engine, is there? Harmless fun; at least they're not vandalizing it!! Have a Happy Sunday!

  6. I'm glad it's being to use...good use or not! It's really rather cute. Wasn't there one of those silly Disney movies with a "convertible" fire engine? Maybe this is an aged movie "star."
