KNOCK, KNOCK
I came across this statue on someone's door step. I thought it was rather interesting. I don't believe it once belonged to a tobacconist;too large for that. This area has a large population of Native Americans' belonging to the Odawa Tribe. I have no idea what he is holding in his hand. Any politically correct suggestions would be welcome.

Regardless what he's offering, he'll get some shitty blanket and a dose of religious love in return.
ReplyDeleteGood morning,Sigars? no..may be paper rolls...a convention with the white Americans to make peace?regards :))
ReplyDeleteNot a clue what he's holding. But I bet he was a cigar store Native American---I can't recall seeing other statues like this one for other purposes. My guess is that someone bought him at an auction.
ReplyDeleteHis expression and his hand on his head make him look like he forgot something. Maybe the keys to this house?
ReplyDeleteNo politically correct suggestion comes to mind, I'll spare you all the others...
ReplyDeleteI think it is a tin of cigars. hahahaha!!! MB
ReplyDeleteNice shot !! This is fantastic..Unseen Rajasthan
ReplyDeleteI think it's beautiful and I agree with you it's very interesting!
ReplyDeleteLéia :)
Lets see a wooden indian or a nice plant? I wonder if the husband and wife agreed on that choice. For a conversation starter it beats a plant.
ReplyDeleteHe is holding a full bundle of handrolled cigars. He is definitely a cigar store Indian statue and a very nice one...expensive if hard-carved of wood.
ReplyDeleteDoes he want me to introduce him to my Columbus statue so they they discuss Native American rights and future relations with the colonists? LOL!!
You need to get back to Florida! You're finding too many strange thingys.
ReplyDeleteI think it's a bunch of cigars...and he came from a really big tobacco store.
Put that in your pipe and smoke it! ;-))
looking for customers to take on a guided tour of the house!
ReplyDeleteMy first thought was cigars too! He appears to be looking off in the distance for something.
ReplyDeleteWhy do you think its too big for a Tobacconist? I bet it stood outside one ..
ReplyDeleteNo no no, he came over to the neighbor's to borrow a cup of maize!
ReplyDeleteV
Nope, I'm wrong. He's selling "harvest pumpkin" Girl Scout cookies!
ReplyDeletea step impressive !
ReplyDeleteGuardien ! sorry !!! ;O(
ReplyDeleteI dont think the statue is politically correct so not sure how we can make a pc suggestion
ReplyDeleteThat's quite a front door greeter! He looks confused.
ReplyDeleteNo idea. He's on the permanent lookout for... photographers.
ReplyDeleteThis object could have passed for dynamite in any western film. And since my peace-loving country actually invented the stuff I'm sure I can get away with that comment as sort of semi-PC! ;)
ReplyDeleteyup, cigars for me, too. very interesting find, this is!
ReplyDeleteHere's a Native Amer. legend I found:
ReplyDeleteThe boys in the camp also gathered to see the young men count their coups. A man would get up, holding in one hand a bundle of small sticks, and, taking one stick from the bundle, he would recount some brave deed, throwing away a stick as he completed the narrative of each coup, until the sticks were all gone, when he sat down, and another man stood up to begin his recital. As the boys saw and heard all this, and saw how respected those men were who had done the most and bravest things, they said to themselves, "That man was once a boy like us, and we, if we have strong hearts, may do as much as he has done."
not cigars?
ReplyDeleteCool capture. :-D
I think a bundle of cigars, too. And ther is a wooden sttaue much like that in a store near here - I do some some tobacco shops had them that big.
ReplyDeleteA container of tobacco for the guests, perhaps?
ReplyDeleteI think he is bringing a gift. Maybe this is a bundle of Kiowa drawings rolled together. Native American Indians used to draw images on the skin of an animal.
