MOM, CAN I KEEP HIM?
When you grow up in a city, most of the wildlife you are exposed to are confined to zoos. I grew up like that. This summer has been an eye opener for me in so many ways. Coming in contact with all kinds of animals and birds has been quite an eye opener. This little guy showed up in our backyard the other day. After staring at each other for awhile, it dawned on me that we were both being enlightened. Sort of alien contact;not quite "E.T. phone home," but you get the picture.

He really seems to be intrigued by you. That or you smell like yummy nuts and fruit.
ReplyDeleteamazing...
ReplyDeleteis he a regular visitor now?
My mother often has deer/fawns in her yard. They gracefully hop over the fence to safety (?) when we appear...we wouldn't hurt them, of course, but instinct is instinct. Love their eyes.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful. My friend in Colorado has deer coming to drink water on her porch, they even bring their babies and, being a city dweller, I had never seen a fawn with white spots that wasn't Bambi!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful
ReplyDeleteWe have deer around here, but I only ever see them by the side of the road at night.
ReplyDeleteI tell you my friend are very lucky! :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful shot and your little friend in this picture is adorable, thanks for not lose this opportunity to photograph him!
As you know, I grew up on a farm and for me, the contact with nature and animals has always been very quiet and natural.
But I never had the opportunity to meet as closely as this kind of "friend", even if you visited!
I hope one day have the same opportunity to reach this beautiful animal and take a beautiful picture too!
Léia :)
Aren't they beautiful. We have lots of them around here. They love to eat the roses so I don't have any. I still am in awe when I see them. MB
ReplyDeleteI do and thanks for taking it, sharing it... I wonder if he lost his mom
ReplyDeleteI love the way deer will stand a stare at you...it's like their brain is processing just what kind of creature you are and if you intend them harm...
ReplyDeleteNice shot, and I'm glad you got to see some wildlife other than the south Florida kind!
a very lovely shot indeed - they are too clumsy for a pet though.
ReplyDeleteSo cute! I have some relatives who live in the country and they have problems with deer coming up on their porch and eating all of their hanging plants.
ReplyDeleteHe's adorable. And look at those tiny legs -- how do they support him?
ReplyDeleteLoved your picture yesterday as well. We were in Petoskey two years ago during Salmon season -- and I stood by the bridge by the park for about an hour trying to get a picture of a salmon jumping up the waterfall. ;)
They are cute, but all I think of when I see the little deers is the ticks they carry and the damage they can do to a garden.
ReplyDeleteHello! I'm stopping by for a little while today but still on sabbatical. Wildlife is great to photograph, esp. when they cooperate.
ReplyDeleteVery cute! Usually they run off so fast. One can only hope he was just a one-time visitor & not there to eat all your shrubs, flowers & bark on your trees. And possibly a whole family if he finds your plantings tasty.
ReplyDeleteAhhh. So much better than cars parking everywhere.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't matter how many times I see deer, I ALWAYS stop & gawk... they're just so beautiful
ReplyDeleteVery nice capture, B! I saw so many of those when I was in Harbor springs but got NO good shots. And last night, here in Detroit, got within a few feet of a deer but all te shots were blurry becaue it was so dark. Nice work.
ReplyDeleteDeer are such graceful creatures. I love them...but I don't have any eating my gardens. ;-)
ReplyDeleteYes, absolutely cute. Nice catch!! It's quite a challenge to get a good shot. This is very well done.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! :-)
ReplyDeleteVery personable... not too skittish...
ReplyDeleteGlad you had your camera for the photo shoot!

You are right, it would be nice to meet a creature like this. Not easy around here, outside parks.
ReplyDeleteI love your explanation of the ET bit. We do see them around here. There were 4 raccoons on the sidewalk the other night. It's a treat every time. Have not seen deer this year, but they tend to come out higher on the hill.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you enjoyed the wildlife encounters! I feel very fortunate to be where we can see deer and elk so often.
ReplyDeleteHow lucky! :-)
