LET THERE BE LIGHT
While walking down the street the other day, I came across this feature on a house. I thought it was rather unusual. I gather it is a mini-lighthouse with a very nice weather vane. Who ever owns the home must get as much pleasure from it as the casual passer-by. It is rather unique and offers a lot of eye appeal. A lovely touch to any roof line.

cool weathervane. It adds so much charactewre to a place. Also I like your vegetable patch. It is so nice to see them outside rather than in the confines of a supermarket.
ReplyDeleteAh but now you have to show us a night shot. Just to make sure it lights up! This is funny and original.
ReplyDeleteWell seen and well done!
ReplyDeleteI see often strange things, but yours are a category apart! This is great, I'd like to put something like this on my terrace, but I'd never get the permit...
ReplyDeleteThat is neat. Not sure you can do so in this turret (?), but I've always wanted to have a room like this to sit in.
ReplyDeleteIt is unique and I like it. I see it does have a light too. Have you seen it on. Pretty neat. MB
ReplyDeleteThe weathervane is wonderful! Do you think you could venture out at night and show us what it looks like when it's blinking?
ReplyDeletevraiment tres original, un nostalgique des voyages en mer
ReplyDeleteI saw a Martin birdhouse with a weather vane on top of it and both were atop a post in the yard of a house in Mathews, VA .. but this is even better!
ReplyDeleteInteresting catch there. Not sure if it would fit well on my house though!
ReplyDeleteVery nice. The person who lives there must be an old sailor or perhaps a former lighthouse keeper. Or just nuts about these things!
ReplyDeleteThat is really nice and I also think you need to show us what it looks like at night!
ReplyDeleteTruly interesting! Perhaps the owner of the house was a lightkeeper at one time?
ReplyDeletePretty cool! But I second Ciel... what about a night shot? :-)
ReplyDeleteIt's just adorable!

So that's what it's called - a weather vane. Dad added one when he build the cottage. No artistic ambitions whatsoever, basically just a bit of plastic pipe with a "wing" at the end. Still, it works.
ReplyDeleteNice catch! I guess a family with maritime backgrounds lives there.
ReplyDeleteIt's so out of size with the house, it's a little weird. Wacky and wonderful.
ReplyDeleteSome houses just lend themselves to decorations like that... What a cool addition to the roofline.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't the light bother the neighbors at night?
ReplyDeletePretty, maybe I will see it while I'm there.
ReplyDeleteOr here, or wherever I am. I found the IGA, but it was closed.
ReplyDeleteI'd like a window's watch on my house, but I do not want to be a widow!
