THE MAJORITY OF ONE

We have concluded, based on much research, that Ft. Lauderdale is the home base for all muralists in the country;maybe the world. This one is located in a stairwell of a parking garage. The garage itself is home to this beautiful mural shown below. This is a very small place with room for only 5-6 cars. My hat is off to whomever commissioned these works. They are seen by very few people on any given day, with the exception of today, of course. When I shot these photos, I was the only person viewing them and the only car in the lot. I felt very privileged.

  1. F.Lauderdale is the world centre of muralism? Looks like that for sure.

  2. Agreed. I delight in finding art in places where nobody looks, and wonder what inspired the artist to create it there rather than in a more public place. Keep looking! More photos!

  4. May I be the first of many to comment on this fine work. The internet is like this. We all have access to information and views previously doomed to their little corner of the world.

  9. "only car in the lot..."

    (AHEM)

    Two points:
    1) You give the Yugo too much credit by calling it a car.
    2) In doing so, you insult all real cars...

  10. Lucky you to be in the right place at the right time. By the way were you parking your esteemed car or just skulking around?

You are the mural capital of the whole world---YES!!

And that was you at the Prom---I do remember. MB

  11. You have just made these murals very famous, B Squared.

It makes me wonder if hardly anyone ever sees these, how did you find them? You must be an excellent sleuth.

  12. They do add a lot...usually there is not much to see in a parking garage, other than cars, of course.

  17. There is a trompe-l'oeil mural in the city nearest me of the scene immediately in front of it. I always thought it was a very clever mural.

  18. And the murals are all so well done and colorful. Have you found any trompe l'oeils?

  20. Your blogger friend Louis la Vache directed me here, and I am so glad he did. It appears we have a mutual fondness for wall murals! I will look for some of your others.

You may wish to see the one I posted recently: http://viewthrumygloballens.blogspot.com/2010/07/parked-by-sea.html (Sorry, I don't know how to add a hyperlink in these comments.)
