I THINK I CAN, I THINK I CAN

This is The F. E. C. railroad bridge. The shot is somewhat deceiving. It sits right in the heart of the downtown area. There are no buildings that can be seen from this angle. It also crosses the river which can't be seen, either. As the train approaches, the bridge is lowered and the train does not get wet. Most ingenious.

  2. And what does it do when a Yugo approaches?
The inquiring mind of «Louis la Vache» wants to know!

  3. So very interesting! Could never guess without your explanation. Can you show it in lowered position?

  4. I've always been partial to dry trains -:)

  5. That is a very interesting bridge. Instead of opening for boats it lowers for the train. I like it and you show a unique view.

  6. I have seen something like this but had no idea what it was. I like this shot!

  7. I had to think about it, your picture is really amazing. I guess the train is quite happy to stay dry...

  8. Right downtown with no visible buildings, over a river that can't be seen....hmmm..did you stage this one? ;)

  9. Maybe it is the perspective, but this bridge seems to mysteriously bridge nothing at all. . .maybe just elevates trains into the air :-). Very cool shot!

  11. That's E.T.'s doing. It's really strange to see it like that but it's also a great shot!

  12. I guess that there really is a true utilitarian purpose for engineers.

  13. This, indeed, is a strange look! Often these things make themselves known, after we've taken the shot and back home are checking out the shots later. Cool!

  14. I don't think I've seen a bridge like that one before your posting!

  15. WEll that's a new one for me. Guess I didn't get around much when we lived there.

  16. No kidding? It really does that?!

  17. Well, now, we wouldn't want a wet train! So saith the bride!

Verrrrrry interesting. It sure looks like it's out in the middle of nowhere.

I don't understand why the train would get wet in the first place. You know, if the rails go over the water.

Life is so confusing sometimes! :-)

  18. That's a very interesting structure -- as if it has seen a lot in its hey day.

Thanks for visiting Norwich Daily Photo and leaving your comment. Have a great week ahead!

  19. It seems ingenious indeed but I'm afraid I still haven't quite figured out how it works...
    God bless you!

  20. Great photo. I like the iron work against the sky.

  21. So if the thing doesn't work, the train goes for a swim. I've never seen this. Wow, what a cool thing. I love the photo with the tracks reaching for the sky.

  22. I think this would be fun to watch!

  23. Another engineering marvel. Ingenious. Yes we were on the same track there today..

  24. I'm from Australia. Is the pic below the first one (the one in colour) in Ft Lauderdale? or Miami?

  25. That a different looking one. I cant figure out how it works.

  26. Amazing contraption! Make sure to look behind you before you take a photo ;-)

  27. I would love to watch it being raised and lowered. I guess there were no trains coming when you were taking the picture!

  28. Great shot! It does look like it is out in the middle of nowhere.

  29. It looks like the bridge to heaven. Please show us a shot of the train over the bridge/water.
