THEME DAY - STATUES
Well it's time once again for THEME DAY. But, that is secondary to the really big event of the day;THE KENTUCKY DERBY. So, I thought I would combine the two. The fellow pictured above has dreams about running in the big race. Unfortunately, he is a horse of a different color. He will have to be satisfied with smelling the roses instead of running for them. Why not gallop over and check out the other participants and their take on May's theme.Click here to view thumbnails for all participants

There is a REALLY CUTE kids' book called Robert the Rose Horse. Check it out if your bookstore has it (probably a bit one would.)
ReplyDeleteGood shot for 'statues'.
Seabiscuit! Have a great time and a fun weekend
ReplyDeleteThis chap will have to "soften" himself a bit in order to really gallop!
ReplyDeleteGod bless you!

Beautiful horse, look ready to start at least on the street and without a rider. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteA fine sculpture to represent the Kentucky Derby. Great to combine the two ideas - Theme Day and the race.
ReplyDeleteIs this killing two birds with one stone? Great post or Theme Day.
ReplyDeleteA brave and noble steed despite his 'handicap'.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful horse!
ReplyDeleteGreat photo and commentary for the day. I'm rooting for the filly!
ReplyDeleteIt's a pity, this horse could have been the next Triple Crown winner...
ReplyDeleteHow fun! And funny.
ReplyDeleteDarn! I always forget the the theme days, and ironically, I've been thinking about doing a post or a series on statues.
HAPPY MAY DAY!
I love this horse statue. I've seen several horse statues today, including mine.
ReplyDeleteMy blog is here Barb's Blog Hope you can take a look. Happy theme day!
You always come up with something funny!
ReplyDeleteNice choice for the theme day.

ReplyDeletelovely take for the theme!
ReplyDeletePouncing out of the yard to get his share of the derby.
ReplyDeleteYeehaw! and giddyup!!!
ReplyDeleteI forgot theme day---wah.
Ya did good though. MB
Brilliant combo of the two. Needless to say, we're not invited to a Derby party as we totally forgot about the event. We were at the dog walk!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great statue for theme day. I like the way it seems to be hiding.

Great tie-in. Two great days.
ReplyDeleteI am in jaw-dropping mode here. First, you found the perfect pick for a Double Crown and you are the winnner! Second, what the heck is that fancy-schmancy tack all about? Third, and this only proves what you've been depicting for quite some time in Ft. L.: It seems odd that an unassuming little abode (or so it appears) has such a monumental statue in the front yard. It would seem that almost every inch of Ft. Lauderdale is a tourist attraction.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment. Actually, the first statue is Lewis and Clark, an Indian and a Dog. I hadn't mentioned it :)
Too bad you couldn't send a lil' bit of sunshine their way. I hope his mudder was a mudder!
ReplyDeleteWell, he could do way worse than spend the day smelling roses.
ReplyDeleteFabulous choice for both theme day and Derby day! That horse looks like a better choice for someone's yard than my giant chicken statue.
ReplyDeleteVery cute, Bill. I shoulda posted one of our Ocala horses, but it didn't come to mind. So I'm glad if I provided you with the couple of memory jerkers...or maybe that wasn't a good thing! ;-)
ReplyDeletehmmmm....
ReplyDeleteViewed from the rear, this statue would look like many of the denizens of Washington, D.C....
Ha ha this one made me smile. So perfect for your area
ReplyDeleteI like how he's shaded by the branches.
ReplyDeleteProves my point that NAGGING pays off. See, you made it! Now it 's your turn to remind ME next month. :)

This is after the fact, but isn't that Calvin Borel an amazing jockey? Bet he could ride this one, too.
