A LIVING LEGEND
This a one of a kind, seldom seen classic. It is a 1953 Corvette, the first model ever made of the soon to be legend. All the 53's were white with a red interior. There were only two options offered: A heater and a signal seeking AM radio. Supposedly, there are only 225 known to still be around. The original price was $3,498.00. This car is worth a heck of a lot more than that;somewhere in the neighborhood of $200,000. You make look, but do not touch! I came across this in a parking lot, not a car show;never did see the proud owner.

That's Polo White and Sportsman Red, manual top, 6 cylinder engine, Powerglide auto trans. And most, if not all, of the '53 models were provided to Chevy honchos, managers and other 'visible' people. Most reports say none were available to the public, until the '54s came out.
ReplyDeleteNice pics!
Proud owner indeed! She's in stellar condition! So nice for the warm climate and good roads you have there, but a total waste here in Manila.
ReplyDeleteYou didn't wait long enough. Were you wearing camouflage?
ReplyDeleteThat is a beauty!
Beautiful example of a magnificent design, I'm sure it was a pleasure for drive!
ReplyDeleteI sure wouldnt have it in a parking lot. Its a beauty.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I'm not a big car fan, I love seeing antiques in good condition. This is a beauty. And the person must be very trusting to leave it unattended for so long! At least you knew what it was. I wouldn't have.
ReplyDeleteIf I had a car worth that much I would NEVER park it where this owner did. It would be all alone at the back of the backing lot...far away from any crazy drivers.
ReplyDeleteI am sure the owner of this jewel is much more careful of the owner of the car I posted today...
ReplyDeleteI don't know why, but every time I see a Corvette I think of Don Johnson (Miami Vice).
ReplyDeleteHow's your week so far?
Thanks for visiting Norwich Daily Photo and leaving your comment. Come visit again tomorrow!
It looks like it should have red velvet ropes defining a safe space around it.
ReplyDeleteWow!
ReplyDeleteAt the place in Emeryville where «Louis» found the Packard Twelve, they had an absolute jewel of a '57 Corvette. V8, mechanical fuel injection, power windows... We forget that fuel injection was just coming into being at that time and that power windows were still very rarely seen on cars. Had Packard been able to produce the '57s they had planned, those cars would have been the world's first with fuel injection as standard equipment.
A classic for sure. MB
ReplyDeleteI always wanted one of these. Hah! I can't imagine driving it around and leaving it unattended in a parking lot. Must be well insured.
ReplyDeleteI don't even have a license...but I think it's great that the owner doesn't just hide it in their garage and actually seems to use it :-D
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteIf that sucker is worth that much, it shouldn't be sitting in some parking lot UNSUPERVISED! Jeez!
ReplyDeleteIt's absolutely gorgeous! It is also the same age as me, but I don't think I look as good as the car.
ReplyDeleteVery cool. Hard to imagine that one could purchase a house for the price of that little car.
ReplyDeleteWOW and they left it open like that .. amazing
ReplyDeleteSomebody is very brave to leave it out - or has the money to replace it!
ReplyDeleteI don't usually consider cars sexy, but that one is a hunk. Sexiest Car Alive.
ReplyDeleteOooh, she's a beaut. I'd be too afraid to drive it around.
ReplyDeletea beauty indeed!
ReplyDeleteGee, he's brave enough to park this babe in a parking lot!
ReplyDeleteIt's a beauty and I like the contrast and juxtaposition to the black SUV.
ReplyDeleteThat's one of the few '50's cars I like the looks of.
ReplyDeleteOf course you know B2, that was before my time. :)
ReplyDeleteV
I guess with my surname, I should aim for a WHITE car next time...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful car and full of style!!
