This is so incredible. I just bought a vintage postcard YESTERDAY with that same saying. It was mailed from Sarasota Springs in 1949 and on the back it says, "This verse from the Ancient Portuguese is at the entrance of the Sarasota Jungle Gardens and has been used in Forest Reservations of Portugal for more than a thousand years."
Aaawww. How sweet! I like that very much. If only everyone respected nature the way they should.
It's scorching over here right now. What is it like over your neck of the woods? Thanks for visiting Norwich Daily Photo and leaving your comment. Come visit again tomorrow!
You order - we roast! We don't ship from an inventory. Your coffee is not roasted and packaged until you order. You are assured of top-quality coffee every time, shipped fresh from our roaster!
Perfect. I have nothing to add either. Just hope people heed the sign.
ReplyDeleteI'm all for cremation.
ReplyDeleteWhose woods these are I think I know.
ReplyDeleteHis house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.
My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.
He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.
The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

ReplyDeleteWhat an excellent find, B. Squared. Thanks for posting it.
ReplyDeleteAnd so true. We are one with nature.
ReplyDeleteExcellent---found in the woods---how neat is that! MB
ReplyDeletePerfect, I'm glad you posted it!
ReplyDelete@ Léia - I really love that one...
Makes one stop and ponder 'where we are and where we're going'.

ReplyDeleteOh, the serendipity of the Internet!

Nice find. Really makes me miss hiking in the woods. As you know, we just don't have forests down here like the ones in the mitten state.
ReplyDeleteAn excellent prayer/poem. I've never seen something like this before.
ReplyDeleteExcellent...
ReplyDeleteLove the tree "voice" It made me feel all warm and fuzzy - until the coffin part.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful prayer... Trees are very special plants... very few age with such grandeur!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend!
And we're all way over Tiger Woods
ReplyDeleteI hope whoever passes by this sign is paying attention. :)
ReplyDeleteAmen.
ReplyDeleteI love that.
ReplyDeleteBeautifully written! Thanks for sharing this.
ReplyDeleteAmen to that.
ReplyDeleteMany of the fires are made by criminals. Unfortunatelly these words don't mean a thing to them.
ReplyDeleteFantastic sign.

That's so sweet. And fortunately it's not Tiger Woods or the sign would be somewhere and the tree would be romping behind the bushes!!!
