NOT TIGER WOODS, JUST THE WOODS

I can't think of a single thing to add to this. Found in the woods, of all places.

  1. Perfect. I have nothing to add either. Just hope people heed the sign.

  2. Whose woods these are I think I know.
    His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

  9. This is so incredible. I just bought a vintage postcard YESTERDAY with that same saying. It was mailed from Sarasota Springs in 1949 and on the back it says, "This verse from the Ancient Portuguese is at the entrance of the Sarasota Jungle Gardens and has been used in Forest Reservations of Portugal for more than a thousand years."

Oh, the serendipity of the Internet!

  10. Nice find. Really makes me miss hiking in the woods. As you know, we just don't have forests down here like the ones in the mitten state.

  17. Many of the fires are made by criminals. Unfortunatelly these words don't mean a thing to them.

  18. Aaawww. How sweet! I like that very much. If only everyone respected nature the way they should.

It's scorching over here right now. What is it like over your neck of the woods? Thanks for visiting Norwich Daily Photo and leaving your comment. Come visit again tomorrow!

  19. That's so sweet. And fortunately it's not Tiger Woods or the sign would be somewhere and the tree would be romping behind the bushes!!!
