Ah, what a wonderful but poignant photo for today! I applaud your selection and also am impressed that the young boy is a minority since so many of our soldiers since the Vietnam War on have disportionately been people of colour. Perhaps the sculpture is just a bronze, but I prefer to think that it's a homage to minority soldiers and their families.
I agree we need to celebrate our freedom while remembering those who defend it. My Independence Day challenge is to read the Constitution, the root and base of our freedom from government tyranny and what makes us different from every other country in the world.
Perfect photo. The artist captured all the profound pride and dignity of the moment when a flag is presented at a miltary funeral service. It is moving beyond words to have a flag placed in your hands and to see this momnent represented by the son of the fallen breaks your heart. He may be standing listening to the playing of taps. Thank you for capturing him so well.

Wise words. Freedom has a price, just like everything else, but it is not paid with money.
