THE SOON TO GET IT WRIGHT BROTHERS

It is  well known fact that the Wright Brothers had A bicycle shop. What is not as well known, however, is their first attempt at flight was on a bicycle. The above photo documents that failed try. They were able to achieve lift-off if only for an instant. The craft came to land on a fence post not far from their shop where it remains to this day.  Across the street was a pub and the patrons were laughing hysterically at the brothers, one even suggested they attach wings to the bike as to not scare the birds. The brothers looked at each other and shouted, "Eureka. They hurried back to their shop and, as they say, the rest is history. And now you know the rest of The SKYWATCH history of little known facts.

  6. Yes, I have never heard that the history of plane started from a failed flying bicycle by the Wright Brothers. Should I say, I did not read enough. :. I missed this part of visiting the site when I was in Raleigh.

This is great reminder of how the modern jumbo jets cruising the sky every Friday got its humble beginning.

Sometimes in life, someone's ridicule is just the right recipe to propel one's wings to the sky of prosperity called Success.

  10. I think that the cycles on the Tour are the REAL flying bicycles. Since I've been keenly interested in cycling during this year's tour, I had to smile when I say your photo on the portal. Great picture with a wondeful story!
