FROM CORAL IT CAME
I was wondering around various parts of the city the other day and came across this unusual house. It appears to be made of rock and mortar. The only rock we have an abundance of here is coral. Yet, while researching coral houses in South Florida, this one is not listed. Regardless, it appears to be Feudal with some modern touches. Very interesting, very strange, very out of place.

It is different alright! Nice shot!
ReplyDeleteVery odd. Maybe someone just wanted a fort---just in case.........MB
ReplyDeleteThey don't get much light inside. This is one of the strangest houses I have ever seen. Any way to learn something more?
ReplyDeleteVery good catch.
Yes 'tis. I've never seen it, either, but I have seen some very different houses in places of Ft. Lauderdale.
ReplyDeleteYou could knock on the door and ask. But that could get you killed. Better not.
Have a great day.
As a former resident of the area, I 'll vouch for the fact that South Florida can indeed be very strange and very out of place!HA Never saw this strange place but glad you captured it for us.

How very bizarre - but also refreshing that people are inspired (is that the right word?!) to build these things. It reminds me of the Palais du Facteur Cheval in France.
ReplyDeleteWhat a very bizarre place! It looks like it should be in a spooky fairy tale!
ReplyDeleteI've been in Stone Town, the capital of Zanzibar, which is an amazing place for several reasons, but mainly for having been built entirely with coral rock as there is nothing else on this former atol. So fantastic!
