This was shot just outside Aspen, Colorado. It is daylight on the mountain tops but the late afternoon brings shadows to the valley. The mountain appears to be "smoking." It really is too young to do that. I hope this will be a nice addition to SKYWATCH FRIDAY and THEME DAY.

2 in 1!!
ReplyDeleteReally great and beautiful :)
Beautiful mountain!
ReplyDeleteThose shadows creeping up from the valley so early in the afternoon make quite a difference to the growth pattern of the vegetation of the shady side.
Fabulous shot!! and you're right, that mountain is too young to smoke! Have visited Aspen several times and it is a lovely place! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteLOL it does appear to be smoking! Wonder what is causing the smoke? Love this shot. =) Hope you have a wonderful Friday.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great combination post! I'm not that resourceful, so I'm actually going to have to post 2 pictures!
ReplyDeleteThat is an incredible view and the sights are so familiar to sights that I see around here... I am definitely very fascinated with the mountaiins as you have shown here.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend and I thank you very much for visiting my blog!
Sure is a lovely photo. I hope the mountain quits that crazy habit, though!
ReplyDeleteit's so majestic! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful mountain shot...I so love Colorado...you could frame this one...
ReplyDeleteVery nice picture. I would love to hike around that area.
ReplyDeleteThat's bloody gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteIt's a great addition to sky watch. So beautiful. A bit of naughty mountain to smoke like that and let out such big puffs of smoke too. Funny were the thin upright contrail comes from.
ReplyDeleteVery nice addition to Sky Watch and could be an addition to May 1st Theme Day which is Shadows. Check it out! MB

ReplyDeleteGreat photo, B2. A twofer. Isn't this one called the Maroon Bells? I read somewhere that it is the most photographed mountain in America - no wonder, it's photogenic.
ReplyDeleteI always love to see the contrast between the rugged, sharp mountains and the soft, feathery evergreens below ~
ReplyDeleteI love looking at CO's magestic mountains. You captured this one really nicely. Well done.
ReplyDeleteI just knew that wasn't Ft. Lauderdale! Either that or I had been smoking them funny cigarettes.

ReplyDeleteThat's a gorgeous shot and a perfect combination for Theme Day and SkyWatch! Aspen is so beautiful - you don't see mountains like that in Florida!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the mountains. I wish we had some in Florida!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful scenery.
ReplyDeleteWow beautiful mountain.
ReplyDeleteGreat photo!
The "smoking" stripe creates a line of symmetry that looks as if it will split that mountain.
ReplyDeleteI love Maroon Bells in Colorado. These are such gorgeous mountains. I loved hiking around them
ReplyDeleteThe Maroon Bells, a familiar site, I lived in Aspen in the late '70's. Very cool shot!
ReplyDeleteLL
Is that a contrail in the background. I wonder if everyone on the plane was looking down.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful picture. I love the grand mountains. We have nothing like that on the east coast in the south.
