DOORIS DAY
This is the type of door you might see in a restaurant. Open it and you might find meat, fruit, vegetables and anything else requiring refrigeration. But on a house? This is the main entrance to a home;a stainless steel door. Let's see, it requires no maintenance, never needs painting and may withstand a nuclear assault. Somethings are just wrong! It sure is different, though.

Sorry I missed your last posts, read them all and enjoyed your pix and witty comments.Maybe the owner was used to being in solitary confinement. Time to appreciate individual differences.
ReplyDeleteWell, it kinda goes with the brick, but it does look industrial. It must be a weird feeling to come home to that. But at least it's DIFFERENT. I guess that can be good.
ReplyDeleteThat is odd. Look at the shoes lined up outside. Maybe a bath-house or hmmmmmmmmm......

Were you referring to Doris Day in the movie The Glass Bottom Boat in which she can be seen peering through a porthole?
ReplyDeleteMy dad brought home stainless steel cupboards from a hospital lab demo almost 40 years ago and installed them in our 100 year old farm house kitchen. He was way before his time, because now stainless steel is everywhere in kitchens. This may be the beginning of a new trend.
A selling point is that if you have an intruder, the fingerprints will be plainly visible.
ahhaha what you mean about a nuclear assault? I don't know...I think it's much modern for me I would prefer those traditional doors!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, it's really different!
Cool shot!
Léia :)
You titles allways make me laugh! :-) Nice composition.
ReplyDeleteIt certainly is different, but I don't think I like it!
ReplyDeleteLooks out of place, but its neat.
ReplyDeletePeople at work know my favorite NFL team is whoever is playing the Cowboys. I tell them its not that I dislike the team but I hate their fans. I like to push their buttons, its so easy.
Really a house door? Unusual:). Great shot!
ReplyDeleteWell I"m kinda liking it for some reason, but you're right, industrial kitchen feel. LOVE the title. You're a mess, B2.

PS I found something for Theme Day, but had to go to Paris to find it. It's cheating I know, but hey.....
Brick walls, stainless steel door, round porthole: strange and almost intimidating.
ReplyDeleteVery good catch, you have a lucky streak of weird thing these days!
Actually, I think it's pretty cool. Clean lines and simple. Needs to be on a non-tradional house, tho.
ReplyDeleteI suspect Doris, herself, is tied up somewhere inside singing "Please, please don't eat the daisies."
ReplyDeleteI think seeing the entire facade might help to pit the doors into context. You're right that the only time I think I've seen doors like this are on commercial refrigerators. Pretty odd...at first I thought it was nautical and some old sailor yearning for the ship and sea. But even they don't have stainless steel doors.
ReplyDeleteGreat post!!
Hmmm I'm not sure how I feel about it - It doesn't look pretty by any means & I'm sure it's very very expensive!
ReplyDeleteMakes a wonderful mausoleum entrance.
ReplyDeleteI did not get the joke at first. Funny though! You always find the oddest stuff.
ReplyDeleteI count three sneakers.
ReplyDeleteWeird! I thought it was a back entrance to a Publix supermarket!
ReplyDeleteI like your title!
I can not make up my mind if I like the door or not.
ReplyDeleteYOUR text, and title for the photo are very good! ;-)
Interesting and modernistic.
ReplyDeleteLooks as if it is 100% water tight and burglary safe. Maybe you spotted a hidden laboratory.
ReplyDeleteWow, what a cold, univiting entrance!
ReplyDeleteThis is a first for me. I have never seen one on a house before. However, this day and time I am not surprised at anything you might see. Looks safe enough.
ReplyDeleteIs it bullet proof too? I'm suspicious about who lives there. Aren't you?
ReplyDeleteThat is strange. Maybe they are germiphobes and the entire inside of the house is stainless steel.
