LOOK, UP IN THE SKY. IT'S A BIRD. IT'S A PLANE. IT'S ...
I was out walking the dogs the other day and heard what I assumed was a swarm of insects approaching. I looked around but saw nothing as the sound grew louder. Then, with cat like reflexes, I looked up to see a small object in the sky. It was headed towards the airport just a stones throw from where we were. I dispatched the dogs and proceeded to the tarmac. I arrived just in time to snap a picture of the creature. It is a Sportcopter Gyroplane which is sort of an airplane that fell in love with a helicopter and reproduced. The model is call The Vortex. They have a neat video on their website. You may view it by clicking here. Maybe man was meant to fly after-all.

I like the way you described the origin of The Vortex. Nice thing to be able to fly the The Vortex.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, it must be awesome to fly this! You will actually be able to feel the wind! Hmmm… just as long as the wind's not too strong, that is.
ReplyDeleteThe name is not promising, but the contraption is fascinating: it has all the faults of a helicopter mixed with the shortcomings of a miniplane.
ReplyDeleteBut it could land on my terrace and what a pictures I could take from above!
It looks like the air version of the Smart Car. MB
ReplyDeletehum I don't know I think I prefer to take a "safe" walking!
ReplyDeleteAnd...think about the storms and winds! It's so dangerous!

MB took my comment, curses! Since its only for one, I dont think I would ever get in one. I am a chicken.
ReplyDeleteMy football picks were straight up, I am not good enough to do the spread.
What progeny!
ReplyDeleteWow, I have never seen an aircraft like this before.....
ReplyDeleteLooks cooooool. :-)
Whatever it is, I want one! That would make me the envy of the neighborhood!
ReplyDeleteVery interesting. I think I'd be scared though.
ReplyDeleteIt's cute, but I doubt I could bring myself to go up in it!
ReplyDelete"Cat like reflexes." Can I steal your description for my way of shooting? It sounds so "man-of-action," so James Bond.
ReplyDeleteI have heard of these...thanks for the photo...but they remind me of a motorcycle with a rotor...would you fly one?
ReplyDeleteIt's a DEATH TRAP! :-)
ReplyDeleteIt looks kinda scary really.
No way, you couldn't pay me to get in one of those.
ReplyDeleteWow, unbelievable that this thing can fly. Thanks for introducing the Vortex. Although I'm not sure if I want to fly one.
ReplyDelete''Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines''! :-)
ReplyDeleteThat is really cute, but I think I'd be scared to death in it.
ReplyDeletethis is awesome! I can't believe that tiny thing can fly...nor would I want to try it. LOL.
ReplyDeleteI think this is small enough to park in the garage. I want one.
ReplyDeleteI had never came across the creature before...wish to watch in real soon :)
ReplyDeleteNice post with informative lines!
So I'm guessing it doesn't take much space to take off and land. How cool is that!
ReplyDeleteVery interesting! This might be the future of individual mobility. Well, maybe in 50 years or so.
