COOL RUNNINGS

On first glance, just another sports car. But look a little deeper and you will see a Tesla Roadster. An electric car capable of reaching speeds of 125 MPH and going 200 miles before recharging. A carbon fiber body surounds a single-speed gearbox;it also uses no oil. The wave of the future? I don't think so. This little number had a sticker price of $145,000. That, my friends, will buy a lot of gas. On the other hand, this is probably the best photo I ever took with my Iphone.

  1. She's a very sexy slice of orange. But what a price tag.

  2. Electric car, any kind of car but not a sport one! No noise? How can a sport car works without noise?

  3. This is really cool... and a lot of money too!

  4. I wouldn't think the money would be a problem for someone in your condition! But, the color might blind an old guy like me! Lovely car, and great phone photo! Do they come in red?

Methinks the prices will come down in the future so I'll wait before I order one. I already have a golf cart, you know...all electric...zooms along at about 15 mph! What more could I need?

    Cool looking though. MB

Love your alley shot. I would be scared of a hiding paper stand--has to be up to no good. Oh year the mural............MB

  6. Since Tesla was a Serb, I think the Tesla should replace the Yugo as the FTLDP Official Car. I know will be broken hearted, but an update is in order.

  7. Thank you for another great quote from the bard.

  8. Yeah, but it will never have the cache of a yugo.

  10. Your next mission (if you choose to take it) is to get a picture from inside the car while it's going 125mph. Cool phone shot!

  11. You are correct that $145,00 would buy a LOT of gas. Still, this car would look rather nice in your driveway.

  12. Are you thinking of trading in your Yugo? ;-)

  13. Art you thinking upgrading your official staff car?

  17. Yeah, very nice. I didn't recognize it as a phone photo. Well, I think the future is gassless, and it takes starting somewhere before the price will go down. This is impressive for that reason AND it's pretty.

  18. VP has a point about the noise. Many people might think they're still dreaming.

  19. Nice shot indeed with the iPhone!

You had «Louis» scared there for a moment that you were thinking of trading in the FTLDP Staff Yugo Limo in on this...

As you probably know, the Tesla is manufactured here in the San Francisco Bay Area. The factory showroom is on El Camino Real just north of the Stanford campus.

  20. I think I'd prefer it in fire engine red; orange doesn't do it for me. Picky! Picky! Picky!

  22. Left you a comment yesterday, but it's not here. I too said that Tesla perhaps drove a Yugo...if they'd existed then.
