I assume the young couple on the right are Hansel and Gretal. The little girl in the tower is Rapunzel. You will have to click to see what I mean. I would assume the Brothers Grimm are regulars.

NO RELATION TO THE GRIM REAPER
The name says it all, GERMAN BREAD HAUS. These folks have been making some of the best bread for years in this same location. The building is pretty interesting as well. Looks are somewhat deceiving, however. The retail section of the store is very small;about 6 feet by 3 feet. The rest of the haus is ovens and storage. But the smells! There have been times I have stopped in just for the olfactory satisfaction it dispenses.

Oh I would love this place!
ReplyDeleteBread is better than dessert {well, not including chocolate!}
I can just imagine the aromas! also... what a cute building!
Love all the thought and craft they put into it!

What a cute place. Can't smell the bread, but I'll bet it's good. Yum.
ReplyDeleteUnusual bakery, its fairy tale architecture look attractive and I'd try to imagine the olfactory question. Great post!
ReplyDeleteI can't find them! Where should I be looking? Give me a hint!
ReplyDeleteMmmmm. I do like the aroma of fresh baked bread! I see there are two gingerbread men there too. What a workout the owners must have every day running after them as they yell "Run, run fast as you can. You can't catch us, we're the gingerbread men!"
ReplyDeleteI would stop just to see whats inside.
ReplyDeleteOrganic Vegan! This would become my favorite bakery in a heartbeat, and that's no fairytale.
ReplyDelete«Louis» is disappointed that you didn't show their fleet of shiny Yugo delivery vans. Perhaps they were all in the repair shop the day you took this photo; rare occurrence as it is for a Yugo to be in the repair shop...
ReplyDeleteLooks like a gingerbread house -- do they sell that, too?
ReplyDeleteSo cute and not something one would expect to see in Fort Lauderdale. But then there are many things in Fort Lauderdale one would not expect to see in Fort Lauderdale!
ReplyDeleteHello dear friend!
ReplyDeletewow this house is a dream, I'm curious about inside!
hugs

How cute! I like the moon.
ReplyDelete"olfactory satisfaction", that's hilarious. This place is Disneyesque in its own quaint way. Can you play Putt Putt there too B2??
ReplyDeleteBTW, as your virtual secreatary, May 1 is Theme Day - Statues. I'm sure you can come up with something. A manatee perhaps???

My husband would love this place, him being German and all. I will make sure we stop by during our next Florida visit!
ReplyDeleteOh .. Wicked Stepmother
ReplyDeleteThis bakery has to be enlarged and studied, there are so many details! And it's even organic vegan, not that I care...
ReplyDeleteOh this is a lovely shot !!
ReplyDeleteBefore I even read your post and just saw the house I immediately thought it's the Gingerbread house, Haensel and Gretel discovered. German bread, one of the things I miss the most!
ReplyDeleteLove the design. Really inviting.
ReplyDeleteI can smell the freshly bake bread.
straight out of a fairy tale!
ReplyDeleteMake that virtual secretary who can't spell worth a damn!
ReplyDeleteWhy doesn't blogger come with smells (okay, just the nice ones).
ReplyDeleteNothing like fresh bread.
ReplyDeleteI can almost feel the smell here! :-)
ReplyDelete...and I can also smell it... Looks like a nice place, and I think I would have looked for some dark brown German bread.... Nam-nam or Yummy as you perhaps say.
ReplyDeleteI've found that it is becoming increasingly difficult to find a decent loaf of bread! Never found one in Santa Fe, but there are a few here in St. Paul. By the outside appearance, the owners have imagination and I guess it extends to their product, too.
ReplyDeleteOH, how cute and fun! :-D
ReplyDeleteMmmmm. There's nothing like fresh-baked bread, and it's nice to have a little store with tradition rather than big box in a mall.
ReplyDeleteHmmm Very enterprising. Ya ya!!
ReplyDeleteIs they anything better than the smell of fresh baked bread. MMMMmmmmm!!
