THEY CALL IT 'GOLDEN GATE PINK'
This is the 3rd Avenue Bridge in downtown Fort Lauderdale. That's right, it's pink. Some ask why? Perhaps, it honors our Pink Flamingoes. Maybe the pastel color is very "Miami Vice." I happen to think the bridge paint store had a special on pink. Check out the colors of some other bridges at San Francisco Bay Daily Photo.

ReplyDeleteNow «Louis» understands why you wrote to him that the FTLDP Staff Limo will not be a part of this photo! You didn't want its shiny elegance competing with the pink bridge... Be that as it may, «Louis» has linked to it!
bridge is up! boats coming through. Love the color. we have bridges of all colors here and I do believe it is because what paint is on sale at the time. MB
ReplyDeleteLol, I don't know what it was but I'm sure it's lovely on a grey and rainy day (not that you get a lot of those...)
ReplyDeleteMaybe because if you live there you are 'in the pink'.
ReplyDeleteHmmm.I think many tourists from Canada associate Florida with flamingos and pink. Just saying.
ReplyDeleteI have a bridge at

A PINK bridge - now that's really something!
ReplyDeleteMethink it hasn't always been pink; I don't remember it being pink - what do you think? Perhaps the Fort Lauderdale city fathers decided to try to emulate the colors of Boca Raton?
ReplyDeleteAt least it gets people talking...
ReplyDeletea page out of a fairy tale
ReplyDeleteCall me kitsch, but I love flamingo pink. This is a very special bridge, all rosy hues aside. Great composition with all the boats.
ReplyDeleteCiao and thanks for visiting Roma Every Day

Ooh! I love the color and that you caught it with its mouth open! And where else but Florida could you find a "pink" bridge? LOL!!
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to work out why "pink"! :)
ReplyDeleteGod bless you!

You know, no one is going to mistake that bridge as being anywhere else but in FL! What a cool photo and nice action capture.

Now that YOU have said it, I always think of Florida in bright pink, so I like the bridge!
ReplyDeleteI laughed when I read the sign. I guess boats just have to wait and stack up in a water-based traffic jam until auto commute traffic is over. As they wait there perhaps they contemplate, "Why pink?"
ReplyDeleteInteresting bridge and the color suit fine with the weather and the design!
ReplyDelete'Pretty in Pink'! The title of my saturday post! :-))
ReplyDeleteWell I like it!
ReplyDeleteHas it always been pink B2? Back in the seventies, I don't remember that but I don't remember a LOT of things. Only in South Florida would you see a pink bridge! Good one. Perfect for the bridge series.

Fun .. I wonder is it an undercoat or is it the color all the time .. it reminds me of that pink mall ... Mizner .. isnt that the name?
ReplyDeleteThis remind my how, in an old movie, a submarine ended up painted in pink!
ReplyDeleteI think you've just got a good city planner. I like pink!
ReplyDeleteThose are all good suggestions, but might I suggest it's pink because it's on the route of the Pink Elephant Parade.
ReplyDeleteSuper cool shot!
ReplyDeleteThis is strange, but quite nice. I thought the national colors of Florida were pink and turquoise, so why not?
ReplyDeleteWell, it suits Florida.
ReplyDeleteB Squared,
ReplyDeleteI still think pink and Florida go together. :)
My bridge shot is here:
