THEY CALL IT 'GOLDEN GATE PINK'

This is the 3rd Avenue Bridge in downtown Fort Lauderdale. That's right, it's pink. Some ask why? Perhaps, it honors our Pink Flamingoes. Maybe the pastel color is very "Miami Vice." I happen to think the bridge paint store had a special on pink. Check out the colors of some other bridges at San Francisco Bay Daily Photo.

Now «Louis» understands why you wrote to him that the FTLDP Staff Limo will not be a part of this photo! You didn't want its shiny elegance competing with the pink bridge... Be that as it may, «Louis» has linked to it!

  3. Lol, I don't know what it was but I'm sure it's lovely on a grey and rainy day (not that you get a lot of those...)

  7. Methink it hasn't always been pink; I don't remember it being pink - what do you think? Perhaps the Fort Lauderdale city fathers decided to try to emulate the colors of Boca Raton?

  9. Call me kitsch, but I love flamingo pink. This is a very special bridge, all rosy hues aside. Great composition with all the boats.

Ciao and thanks for visiting Roma Every Day

  13. Now that YOU have said it, I always think of Florida in bright pink, so I like the bridge!

  14. I laughed when I read the sign. I guess boats just have to wait and stack up in a water-based traffic jam until auto commute traffic is over. As they wait there perhaps they contemplate, "Why pink?"

  17. Has it always been pink B2? Back in the seventies, I don't remember that but I don't remember a LOT of things. Only in South Florida would you see a pink bridge! Good one. Perfect for the bridge series.

  21. Those are all good suggestions, but might I suggest it's pink because it's on the route of the Pink Elephant Parade.

  22. This is strange, but quite nice. I thought the national colors of Florida were pink and turquoise, so why not?

I still think pink and Florida go together. :)
