SKYWATCH FRIDAY-OSPREY NEST

I came across this Osprey nest the other day. If you click the photo, you may see if the Osprey is at home. Their diet consists of fish exclusively. They were into Sushi before it was fashionable. Regardless, it makes a nice addition to SKYWATCH FRIDAY.

  4. Nice shot, B Squared! We had a large Osprey at the Pine Island Ridge golf course which would sometimes swoop down out of a tree to catch a fish in the middle of one's backswing. Made for some interesting drama!

  6. Weird looking birdsnest. Why the artificial nestpole? No threes around? At least bird can spot sushi from far away. :) Happy SWF!

  11. The Ospreys love perching above it all. It makes me happy every time I see a nest like that.

  14. Hi, Bill. That is a great photo, and you have some of the prettiest blue skies down there in Florida. Is this one of the poles they erect to encourage ospreys to nest somewhere other than utility poles? I seem to remember something about trying to save them from electrocution.

  15. I never saw one of these, they live only in some parts of the South of Italy and are called "fishing hawks". I wonder about the pole, anyway it makes a very good shot.

  18. I love this photo! I haven't seen an Osprey in years. My husband's family used to have a place on a small lake and we would watch one hunt, just fascinating how they dive in the water.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting on my sky photo!

  19. Ok, you have to clue me in on the nest. Is that perch for nesting or something else? Whatever, you have one great photo here. Sushi! HA Don't touch the stuff myself but the ospreys are welcome to it.

  23. Last summer my son and I took tons of pictures of an osprey couple building a nest on a very old, but dead tree. The farmer on whose land it was, told us that they build their nest one year and lay their eggs the next. Alas, the tree did not make it through this past winter. I wonder what the couple will do.
Thanks for stopping by every day!
