SKYWATCH FRIDAY-EFFORTLESS FLIGHT

Have you ever been to a beach and watched the Pelicans? They fly so effortlessly. Gliding more so than flying. Very little flapping of their wings;more jet than prop. This statue at the beach captures their essence beautifully. They may look stationary but they are headed right for SKYWATCH FRIDAY.

  2. Pretty cool. Looks like you took the picture on windy day.
On a totally different note. Regarding your commment on my Dallas blog. Sometimes when I walked around downtown Dallas it was like a ghost town no cars or people for long stretches of time. Very strange.

  4. Beautiful subject for framing up your Sky Watch Friday shot. You live in a very photographic area or at least you find the best of it to share with us all.

Cool photo of the Iguana, I used to have them at my last house and they would give me quiet a fright if not expecting them to wander across my patio but they were really very tame and just looking for a handout.

  7. I can truly say that I have never seen a pelican in flight but the statue does all you say. Looks like the higher one is gliding on the thermals in all that wind!

  8. I love the pelican--a prehistoric beauty. They do make it look easy. I especially like when they disappear close to a wave and then emerge.

    Lovely photo.

  10. They are gorgeous birds to watch in flight and, like gulls, are so delightfully clean. How is the one on top attached to the other?
